Smoke rings

The younger generation of the world today does not consider cigarette smoking a taboo and social evil anymore. This can be attributed largely to the fact that cigarettes are almost inevitable for an individual who wishes to become popular and famous within his or her group of friends. Besides smoking cigarettes normally, there are various techniques that are used extensively by people across the world to enchant the hoards of people who might look at them. A certain trick which rules amongst the teenagers is the trick that produces smoke rings. A smoke ring is basically smoke which is exhaled from the mouth in the form of a circle which we will call here as a ring. It is believed that smoke rings are difficult to create and they require a lot of effort. Contrary to this belief, smoke rings are extremely easy to produce and require no effort on the part of a regular smoker.

In order to create a smoke ring, the individual should follow the technique properly. The proper procedure for the creation of the ring involves the inhalation of smoke completely to the lungs. The smoker should then slowly exhale the smoke through his mouth only. During the exhalation process, the lips are to be held in a circular manner and the jaw is to be moved in an upward and downward motion at a constant pace. The size of the curl of the lips will decide the size of the smoke ring. A guy who smokes and makes smoke ring with great ease tends to often have a large number of people (both male and female) lobbying around him. Smokers who can create smoke rings and can do similar other tricks are often more popular than others who just barely smoke. Various other techniques including the waterfall technique and the cupid’s arrow trick are extremely popular with the ladies.

Winehouse shows smoking's early risks

English singer Amy Winehouse is no stranger to tabloid headlines -- routinely grabbing attention for alleged drug use, brushes with the law, bizarre onstage behavior and curious fashion choices.

Yet a recent disclosure that the 24-year-old has "signs of emphysema," according to her U.S. publicist, Tracey Miller, shocked many.

Though copious photos show the beehived songstress with a cigarette dangling from her lips, it seemed stunning to learn that someone that age could suffer from a disease usually associated with two-pack-a-day 65-year-olds.

But Winehouse is not an anomaly.

Parental smoking


The term parental smoking refers to those parents who are active smokers. Parental smoking has been attributed to a large number of young teenagers taking up smoking. It is fairly obvious that a young boy who is around 14 years of age will get curios when he sees his father or mother smoking. He is bound to ask questions including the reason behind his parents smoking. It has been seen in a large number of cases throughout the world that a very high percentage of people who started smoking below the age of smoking did so only because there parents smoked. Parental smoking makes sure that the young children have easy access to cigarettes. This works as a stimulant and when coupled with the natural curiosity, the child starts smoking.

This is exactly how I started smoking. My father is a chain smoker and he has been smoking actively for nearly 30 years now. As a child, I often used to find packets of cigarettes kept on the table with no one around. I often felt curious about the ingredients of the package. Also, whenever I saw my father smoking with his friends, I often questioned myself as to what pleasure does my father derive out of smoking a cigarette? I once asked dad why he smokes, he said he got into the habit of smoking when he was young and a failure grasped him. There was no one to relieve the tensions and cigarettes showed some peace of mind at least for some moments. Now this is a common reason for many of the smokers and if this is told to next generations then they will also move towards smoking cigarettes if ever they encounter failure in life. For me the curiosity went on increasing day by day and one fine day I decided to end the doubts and nicked a cigarette from his pack when no one was in the house. I lit up the cigarette and took my first puff of cigarette. The instant head rush that I got ensured that I got hooked to the habit. I have been actively smoking since then and I must say that I still love every drag I take. There are a large number of teens just like me who picked up smoking just because they were easily exposed to cigarette because of their parents and have been smoking since then.

The ideal smoking ratio

Smoking is defined as the act of inhaling and exhaling tobacco smoke. The cigarettes that are used for smoking come in an assorted variety and comprise of different types of blended and filtered tobaccos. There has been a long and ensuing debate between medical practitioners and smokers across the world about cigarettes and their effects. A lot has been said and done about the ill effects of smoking. What people do need to realize is that excessive smoking is dangerous. It is also known that excess of anything and everything is bad and the same goes for smoking.

A friend of mine underwent a rehabilitation program to quit smoking and guess what, he came out with a perfect solution for all smokers. He discovered at the rehabilitation center that 4 cigarettes in 7 days is the ideal ratio that should be followed by all the smokers of the world. He took help of the doctors present in the rehabilitation center and learned that the urge to smoke of an individual remains for 72 hours. He was advised by his doctors to smoke only twice in that period in those situations when the urge was uncontrollable.

He followed the advice perfectly and found out that he was ok with this new arrangement. He realized that smoking in such a manner has practically reduced all his health hazards by almost 5 times. These facts made him realize that it is possible to smoke and yet feel nil or very little effects. That particular individual used to smoke anywhere between 20-22 cigarettes a day some time back, but now he only smokes 4 to 5 times less in a week and he is going great guns. This story will be a great help to those who want to reduce there health hazards due to nicotine without completely stopping cigarette. Once you attain this ratio you can move further to reduce the cigarettes and even make it null one day. It is thus recommended that all smokers of the world adhere to this ratio and thus lead a fruitful and better life.

The cigarette smoking culture


A large number of theories have been out forward by various scientists through out the world in order to explain the growing number of individuals who take up smoking. To have a complete understanding of this debate, an individual should take into consideration various factors including the history of the smoking practices along with the multitude of roles which smoking plays in the every day life of an individual. The human mind tends to get increasingly dependent on any source that provides even a brief respite from the various stress situations that an individual faces. This dependence on cigarettes and other tobacco products is the major reason for the gaining popularity of cigarettes and all related products. An individual tends to smoke when out for a social gathering. It gives him immense communal and individual pleasure. Smoking has become increasingly common place, and the extent of this can be adjudged by the fact that it is now widely accepted as a part of almost all social gatherings. Individuals to indicate their care free attitude along with increasing optimism also often use cigarettes.

Cigarettes are also often used in the society as a pointer towards the fast paced and the highly modernized life of an individual. They are often used as a symbol of power and masculinity along with dominance. There are various museums that are dedicated to the various changes that have gone through out the world in terms of cigarettes. Some of the most famous museums are situated in the United Kingdom and Australia. The tobacco industry has grown astonishingly over the past 100 years. The fact that almost a few thousand people take up smoking every day is the living testimony of the fact that the tobacco industry is growing at an increasing rate every year and soon is expected to reach its highest.

Is smoking really that bad?


This is one debate that’s never going to end. As far as the medicinal groups are concerned and of course health officials, they’ll blow their top whenever cigarettes are mentioned. It’s mandatory for cigarette manufacturers to print statutory warnings on cigarette packets regarding the harm cigarettes can cause. However, who is to answer the question regarding how bad it really is, or the larger question is it really bad? In most societies drinking is considered a social practice, but little do they harp on the evils it causes. Drinkers more often than not can display signs of multiple personality disorder after a few drinks and can quite conveniently forget everything when they’re back to their senses. They’d pick a fight, tease people, be really loud, boast and may even cause an accident if behind wheels. Of course there’s all the throwing up, breaking things, causing a mess and regular embarrassment. In comparison, smokers are a peaceful lot. They smoke, stay in their own and don’t trouble people around them.

Another really good thing about smoking is that it helps you relax in many situations. The logic is simple. When in a tense situation, people usually say, sit back, relax and take a deep breath, problem is we know all this but don’t really do so because our nerves are incapable at such intense moment. However taking up a cigarette at such a moment automatically causes you to soothe your nerves and clear your thought process because you inhale slowly, take a deep breath and feel the smoke. The health prospects maybe bad but the god it does at such nervous moments is incomparable. Lighting up a cigarette after your meals ensures that you don’t conveniently jump into bed right after eating which is a very unhealthy practice, causing people to put on weight and of course in hampering with your digestive system which is put to a test.

Smoking stopped by Hypnosis? Nah!


I have heard great stories of hypnosis being successful in doing many surprising things. Things like making the hypnotized person stand on single leg for about an hour – or controlling even the sleep of the hypnotized person! But yesterday one of my friends said that even smoking can be stopped by hypnotism! Well and you can guess what could have happened after that – all of us laughed at him!

I now begin to think whether this is really possible? I mean stopping smoking by hypnotism. Although I feel this is highly impossible I started wondering if this can be real, I started to find out what exactly hypnotism does so that it can even change our habits and even addictions! Hypnotism just puts us in a mental state where we are unconscious. Our brain is not listening to ourselves instead it has now become slave of someone other. The hypnotizer can make the hypnotized person behave the way he wants – until the hypnotized person remains hypnotized! After that the hypnotizer doesn’t have any control over him. Then how can he even control the person after the effect of hypnosis is over? As far as smoking goes, it is an activity for pleasure and relaxation of mind and it may be an addiction for some. When we are back into out normal behavior, that is out from hypnosis then we should feel the normal thirst to smoke the way we usually felt. Hypnosis just can’t change the person permanently! The attachment of smoker to smoking is pretty natural and not forced one and he really enjoys it. How can something stop his natural desires to take into effect even after the effect of hypnosis is over? That’s why I simply believe hypnosis can’t have any effect over smoking. Yes you can make that person not to smoke for the period he is hypnotized, but not after that. Smoking can be stopped by showing good control on self. It’s not that hard and I have some friends who have quit smoking and they are happy about it and I also have friends those who have not tried to quit, they enjoy smoking and they are also quiet happy about it.
